When it comes to installing a fence in your backyard, there are several things that you are going to want to take into consideration. This is especially true if you have young children that are going to be playing in the backyard quite often. You want a fence that is not only sturdy and long-lasting, but also one that is going to be safe. Thankfully, a chain link fence can provide both of these things for you. However, there are some extra things that you can do to your chain link fence as well to make it even safer, and this article will discuss 3 of them.

Have The Taller Fencing Installed

Chain link fencing comes with a few different height options when it comes to the poles and the chain link. If you have young children, a great way to keep them safe is going to be by installing the taller fencing. This taller fencing makes it so that your children are not able to climb over the fence and will also make it harder for an unwanted guest to climb inside. The taller fencing is obviously going to cost a bit more because more materials are required, but is well worth the money for the extra safety it provides.

Place Extra Locks On Gates

You will likely have one or two gates as part of your chain link fence so that you can enter and exit the backyard more easily. While most gates come with a hook that closes that gate securely, it is a good idea to reinforce this security with a lock, if you have young children. This can be a padlock or a code lock, depending on what works best for you. Either lock will stop your child from being able to sneak out of the gate without you knowing and will keep them securely in the backyard. It will also stop anyone from being able to enter your backyard without permission.

Have Slats Placed Between The Links For Privacy

If one of your worries is that people will be able to see your children while they are playing in the backyard, then you will be happy to know that you can have long, thin slats placed between each chain link row to add some extra privacy to your fence. These slats can really deter others from being able to see into your backyard and will help you give you more peace of mind when your children are playing outside.
